Indian Boy Born with 34 Fingers and Toes

    A 1 year old boy from Uttar Pradesh in Northern India break the record of a Chinese boy who had 15 fingers and 16 toes. Akshat Saxena has set a new world record by being born with a total of 34 fingers and toes. Akshat was born with 7 fingers on each hand and 10 toes on each foot, made possible by a condition known as polydactyly, a genetic disorder that can cause the growth of  excess finger/toes. His mother was happy when  she saw her new born baby boy but get shocked when she discovered the excess digits. 

The child has had a series of surgeries to remove the excess digits, but even though he was born with 14 fingers, none of them were thumbs, so doctors are working to construct thumbs out of the removed excess fingers.
