The Powerful Diary

 Anne Frank
A young girl full of Hope
In 1944, Gerrit Bolkestein, a member of the Dutch government in exile, announced in a radio broadcast from London that after the war he hoped to collect eyewitness accounts of the suffering of the Dutch people under the German occupation, which could be made available to the public. As an example, he specifically mentioned letters and diaries. Anne Frank decided that when the war was over she would publish a book based on her diary. Anne died of typhoid in 1945 in Bergen-Belsen at age 15. Her father was the only one to survive the camps. Upon his return home, a friend gave him Anne's dairy, which they had rescued from the attic. It fell instead to her father ,Otto Frank , to see her diary published.

Anne Frank's diary became one of the most inspirational and had powerful impact of the words inside the diary of a young girl have had on the world. She wrote a detailed account on her diary.
In 1940 one of her entry in the diary ,  she writes ‘Peter was the ideal boy: tall, slim and good-looking, with a serious, quiet and intelligent face. He had dark hair, beautiful brown eyes, ruddy cheeks and a nicely pointed nose. I was crazy about his smile, which made him look so boyish and mischievous.’ She perfectly describe her one true love. Any woman will fall on her 'one true love'. Even though the family of Anne Frank had no picture of Peter Schiff ,  Readers  felt sincerity and love from Anne as she wrote her entry dreaming for Peter.

Anne Frank's 'Great Love'

The humble journal is not only about  love, it is an actual diary that's greatly written of an 11 year-old girl about  hope, grief, terror, strength and dreams while Ann's family and 4 others hid in the attic of a factory from June 12, 1942 to August 1, 1944 when they were betrayed to the Nazis. The diary is the mirror of the world in the views of a young girl while being terrorized by Nazis. Anne wrote every detail on what she experienced during dark days.

In 2010 the Culpeper County, Virginia school system banned the 50th Anniversary "Definitive Edition" of Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, due to "complaints about its sexual content and homosexual themes."
This version "includes passages previously excluded from the widely read original edition...Some of the extra passages detail her emerging sexual desires; others include unflattering descriptions of her mother and other people living together."
After consideration it was decided a copy of the newer version would remain in the library and classes would revert to using the older version.

It's been translated into 67 languages and is one of the most widely read books in the world.

Interesting Fact:
Peter Schiff does not reappear in the diary until January 6, 1944, after Anne had been in hiding for more than one and a half years. After she has a dream about Peter she writes ‘At that point I woke up, still feeling his cheek against mine and his brown eyes staring deep into my heart, so deep that he could read how much I’d loved him and how much I still do, and now Peter, my dearest Peter. I’ve never had such a clear mental image of him. I don’t need a photograph, I can see him oh so well.’ The photo of Peter Schiff along with a note that reads ‘A friendly memento of your friend Lutz Peter Schiff’ was donated to the Anne Frank museum by Ernst Michaelis had recently discovered last 2008 . Like Anne Frank’s family, Peter’s family fled Germany for the Netherlands and died in Auschwitz or Bergen-Belsen.

I read the book and I also saw the movie, it moved me to tears. It is the most valuable heritage from those times and Anne Frank is one of the most impressing people I have ever heard of, especially considering her very young age. She is an example of generosity, innocence and cruel martyrdom.
